The shop
Ngurah Rai opened Indonesia's first arrival duty-free store in April 2018, run by Dufry (now Avolta). It sits in the restricted part of international arrivals, under customs supervision, so you pass it after baggage and before you exit. Do kids get 1 litre too?
No. The allowance is per adult, so a family of two adults and two kids can bring 2 litres, not 4. Don't put a bottle in your teenager's bag.
Is arrival duty free good value?
Bali's duty-free online catalogue has listed Smirnoff Red 1 L at Rp 440,000 (about A$35) and Bombay Sapphire at Rp 555,000, with 10–20% promotions on some lines. Buy in Oz or in Bali?
Both count against the same 1 litre. Buying on arrival means not carrying it through the flight and your connection. Buying in Oz lets you compare prices before you board. Which is cheaper unverified.
